When you say it fell down, I am assuming that it is over the firebox or if not you did not have the stones damp for install. The weight of the product will not hold up on it's own entirely when applying to a scratch coat unless a support system is placed on the bottom row above the firebox. I think the problem is this, applying a scratch coat of Type N Masonry Cement Mix is not how to install the product.
